Over the Edge

Taki: Japanese for the waterfall. We took this photo of my phone oldest son and me in 2012, the year we lived in Japan. Read here what happened to this relationship.

A friend recently shared an analogy: As a culture, we are heading towards a waterfall. Whether we like the way things are going or not, and let’s be clear I don’t, we are going over; things are changing.

The waterfall analogy struck me because things are changing on the inside of many of us too. We have spent the time alone, reevaluated what’s important, and redirected our energy.

We are yielded to an unhindered flow, heading towards our own waterfall, because we have put in the work. We are going over; things are changing.

Am I the only one who feels it? I am going to be prepared and I am going to enjoy the ride.

Over the edge I’m going to go-
A waterfall collecting in my soul.
To fight the current is in vain,
I don’t know why but here comes the rain

Murk and mire and debris,
Littered the waters encircling me.
But I dove in and waged a war
And hauled piece by piece onto the shore

Unhindered surge now flows wild,
I yield to the power like a child.
A waterfall collecting in my soul-
Over the edge I’m going to go.
